On Saturday 30th November 2013, Maltese driver Noel Baldacchino, managed to win the international race, Prix Des Rencontres Internationales which was held at Vincennes Race Track in Paris, France on a short distance of 2100m.
Driving French ten year old trotter, Puy De Sancy, Baldacchino upped the pace during the last metres and triumphed by half length in a good average time of 1.14.9″ per kilometer.
Baldacchino won in front of Quassia Du Bon Air (HP Tholfsen) and favourite Prieure (Pierre Vercruysse). The latter led for a couple of metres during the race.
Quartino (M. Hugyens) and Stitch Du Rieutort (H. Brandstatter) ended respectively in fourth and fifth place.
Asked to comment by http://www.kennethvella.com about this win at the end of the race, Baldacchino stated that for him it was an honour to win an international race at the Vincennes Racetrack, which is considered as one of the best racetracks in the World.
“Before the race I was told that the horse had a good chance to win, even if it did not start as the main favourite. I had a good start during the first metres. This horse was consistent throughout all the 2100m distance. I thanks all the Maltese horseracing enthusiasts for all their support,” concluded Noel Baldacchino.
