Assikura Insurance Brokers Limited have been sustaining the local horse racing scene with their sponsorship of a championship since 2010 although their first sponsorship goes back to 2007 when they helped in organising Condition Races. During the past four seasons the Assikura Championship was reserved for horses that are neither French nor Swedish but this year they are sponsoring two Championships for Gold and Bronze categories in which all horses could participate.

On Sunday 16th February the Gold Championship kicked off with 6 heats in which a total of 65 horses participated and from which 24 made it through to the semi finals on Sunday 2nd March. The 10 horses that made it to the final to be raced on Sunday 16th March were the following (in paranthesis there are the drivers that qualified the horses):

Qurieux du Ponchet (Noel Baldacchino) Wies Buitenzorg (Eric Bezzina)
Prince Gaillard (Julian Farrugia) Happiness Photo (Julian Farrugia)
Oeillet de Phens (Rodney Gatt) Quid d’Aliermont (Charles Camilleri)
Quintet (Brian Zammit) Charm Hammering (Gilbert Farrugia)
Phenix de la Roque (Charles Degiorgio) Olry Meslois (Emmanuel Fenech)

The prize money in the final will be €900 – €400 – €200- €100

Unfortunately the horse Qurieux du Ponchet was scratched by his owner and thus will not be participating in the final.

The Bronze category went into action on Sunday 23rd February with also 6 heats and 71 horses from which 24 will be taking part in the semi finals on Sunday 16th March so that 10 horses will also pass on to the final.

The prize money in the final will be €450 – €200 – €100 – €50

The draws for the Gold final were held today during this press conference in the presence of owners and drivers of these 10 horses.

Il-Kumpanija Assikura Insurance Brokers ilha tappoġja l-isport tat-tiġrijiet lokali billi tisponsorja kampjonati sa mill-2010 għalkemm fl-2007 kienu wkoll sponsorjaw Condition Races. F’dawn l-aħħar erba’ snin il-Kampjonat Assikura kien riservat għal zwiemel li ma jkunux la Franċizi u lanqas Svedizi imma din is-sena qegħdin jisponsorjaw zewġ Kampjonat għall-klassijiet Gold u Bronze li fihom setaw jipparteċipaw iz-zwiemel kollha.

Il-Ħadd 16 ta’ Frar ingħata bidu għall-Kampjonat tal-Gold billi saru 6 tiġrijiet li fihom ipparteċipaw total ta’ 65 ziemel u li minnhom 24 għaddew għall-fazi tas-semi finali li saru nhar il-Ħadd 2 ta’ Marzu. Minn dawn 10 t’izwiemel ikkwalifikaw għall-finali. Din il-finali ssir nhar il-Ħadd 16 ta’ Marzu u z-zwiemel eliġibbli li jieħdu sehem kienu dawn (fil-parentisi hemm il-ġerrejja li kkwalifikaw dawn iz-zwiemel):

Il-premjijiet tal-finali ser ikunu €900 – €400 – €200 – €100

Sfortunatament iz-ziemel Qurieux du Ponchet gie rtirat u għalhekk mhux ser jipparteċipa fil-finali ta’ nhar il-Ħadd.

Il-Kampjonat tal-Bronze ingħata bidu għalih il-Ħadd 23 ta’ Frar fejn ukoll saru 6 heats bil-parteċipazzjoni ta’ 71 ziemel li 24 minnhom ikkwalifikaw għas-semi finali li issa ser isiru nhar il-Ħadd 16 ta’ Marzu sabiex inkunu nafu min huma l-10 zwiemel finalisti.
